Health Unit Coordinator Programs
This program prepares students to function in hospitals, nursing homes and other institutions as receptionists and health unit coordinators, processing patient charts, maintaining inventories and performing other related duties. Duties include coordinating communications, maintaining unit and patient records and forms, requisitioning services from various departments, and transcribing doctors orders and completing clerical duties for admissions, discharges, transfers and deaths. The curriculum includes general education, typing, medical terminology, clerk functions and clinical experience.
Shared programs expand access to programs that are in high demand both by students and employers. Two or more colleges entering into a formal agreement that identifies which courses/labs will be offered at the individual colleges. In some cases students may be asked to attend a college outside of their current district. Check with the colleges listed for more details.
