Western Technical College

Western Technical College rests between the Mississippi River and the majestic bluffs of the Driftless Region in La Crosse, Wisconsin. In addition to the main campus, Western has five regional locations in western Wisconsin: Black River Falls, Independence, Mauston, Tomah, and Viroqua. Our Public Safety programs meet at the state-of-the-art Public Safety Training Facility in Sparta. Western offers associate degrees, technical diplomas, and a variety of university transfer options.

All programs provide hands-on classroom experience—whether it’s doing lab work, exploring green technologies, or creating a business plan. We also have a new state-of-the-art Apprenticeship Facility.

Western Graduate Travels to the Pandemic Epicenter

Originally from Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Jacob Stodola has since made La Crosse his home. Stodola attended Western and graduated with a Nursing degree in 2018 and completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2020—an exciting time to be a healthcare worker! Immediately after school, he secured an impressive job at Gundersen Healthcare System.

Every fire season I think about our Wildland Firefighter graduates who are working so hard to get these fires under control. The son of one of our own staff members has been serving our country in this role recently and I’d like to share a little of his story with you.

Jenessa Perry is a graduating senior at Independence High School. Like the rest of her classmates, she balances athletics and academics while enjoying the last few months of high school. Unlike her classmates, however, she’s also enjoying the last few months before graduating from Western Technical College with an associate degree in business management.
