Terry Craney

Public Member

Terry Craney brings decades of leadership experience in education, public service and workforce development to the WTCS Board. A longtime advocate for Wisconsin’s technical colleges, he spent 25 years as a physics and mathematics instructor at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and later served as president of the Wisconsin Education Association Council. Terry's career also includes key state leadership roles including Commissioner of the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission, Administrator of the Administrative Services Division at the Wisconsin Department of Commerce and Executive Director of the Governor’s Work‑Based Learning Board.

He has contributed extensively to national and state boards focused on education, labor relations and workforce advancement, including the National Education Association Board of Directors, the National Skill Standards Board and the Wisconsin Employee Trust Funds Deferred Compensation Board. Since 2015, Terry has served as an Honorary Associate Fellow with the UW–Madison Physics Department’s “Wonders of Physics” program.

Terry holds a BS in Education - Physics/Math and a MS in Physics Education. He has earned multiple teaching and service awards, reflecting his lifelong dedication to students and Wisconsin’s education system.
