Woodworking Technology Programs

There is a continuing need for highly skilled people in the manufacturing trades of the woodworking industry: cabinetmaking, furnituremaking and millwork (windows, doors and architectural moldings). New technologies and a strong demand for quality wood products present challenging demands in this broad industry. The Wood Manufacturing Technology program provides the student with the knowledge and skills necessary for job success in this industry. The principal emphasis in this program is the planning and efficient production of cabinets and furniture. The use of hand and power tools, including Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) industrial machinery used in the manufacture and assembly of wood products, is mastered in the shop. Related blueprint reading, estimating, AutoCAD and tool grinding are included in the training. Teamwork, individual initiative and other workplace skills are stressed.
