Description

Work Description 
The Sterile Processing Technician Apprenticeship prepares you to clean, sterilize, and assemble surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for use in operating rooms and other medical facilities. You’ll gain hands-on experience in sterilization, infection control, decontamination, and the processing and distribution of surgical instruments, while maintaining accurate records to ensure safety and compliance.

Working Conditions 
As a Sterile Processing Technician Apprentice, you’ll work in an operating room or surgical suite. This role requires standing for extended periods, meticulous attention to infection control, and quick, precise responses to the needs of the surgical team. You’ll be an integral part of ensuring the sterile environment is maintained for safe and effective medical procedures.

Training

  • 2,180 hours of on-the-job training
  • 252 hours of related instruction
