Structural drafting and design is a specialization within the broad field of civil engineering. Students enrolled in this program receive training in structural and related drafting, primarily as it applies to the construction of commercial and industrial buildings. Architectural drafting, structural drafting, surveying, structural analysis, construction concrete and steel, estimating and building methods are all courses which help students understand technical data and the proper use of materials in the construction of commercial and industrial buildings. Graduates of this program will have the skills necessary to succeed in today's highly competitive job market because this two-year associate degree program emphasizes the development of both manual and computer-aided drafting skills. Traditionally, graduates find employment in a variety of engineering offices.
