The Wisconsin Technical College System recognizes that manufacturing in Wisconsin is a modern, technical and dynamic industry that advances the state's economy. The technical colleges will host or lead tours, demonstrations and other unique events throughout October to promote hands-on exploration of manufacturing careers.

OCTOBER 1

Madison College
College Forum for High School Counselors
School counselors are welcomed to campus for tours of the School of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology program.

Madison College
The Madison College welding program, with the Madison-Beloit section of the American Welding Society (AWS), will present a Welding Education Open House for high school students and instructors of welding and agriculture classes, giving both a hands-on welding experience and the opportunity to network with welding students and fellow welding industry professionals.

Mid-State Technical College
The Mobile Manufacturing Lab (MIKE) will be scheduled by K12 schools for a day or half-day experience, allowing students to design, create, and produce a product in the lab, focusing on different processes within manufacturing.

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC)
The NEW Manufacturing Alliance is partnering with Fox 11 and Alliance members are being featured each day on the morning and evening news. The Alliance also will be running manufacturing career ads.

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC)
Walk down the red carpet with over 200 math and tech ed teachers.  NWTC will premier 3 new Math videos demonstrating the application of math concepts, a free event that gives companies the opportunity to win 3 Get Real Math videos that will be filmed in 2020.

Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC)
Amery and Somerset Middle School students will ‘Discover Manufacturing,’ exploring manufacturing-related programs at the WITC-New Richmond Campus.

OCTOBER 2

Mid-State Technical College, Northcentral Technical College (NTC) and Nicolet College
About 1,700 8th grade students participate in the Heavy Metal Bus Tour® each year, experiencing careers in manufacturing by touring several different manufacturing facilities, attending presentations by local businesses, and engaging in an interactive lunch presentation. This event is created in partnership with area manufacturers, regional Chambers, Central Wisconsin Metal Manufacturers Alliance, and the North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board.

Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC)
A “Heavy Metal Tour” will visit Kondex Corporation in Lomira and promote networking and learning about careers in manufacturing. Focused on middle and high school students and their parents, this tour is also open to the community.

OCTOBER 3

Blackhawk Technical College (BTC)
BTC is collaborating with economic and workforce development partners, 19 different high schools and nearly 30 employers in Rock and Green Counties to celebrate Manufacturing Days October 3 and 4, 2019, aiming to inspire students to pursue careers in advanced manufacturing and to change perceptions about today’s manufacturing environment.

Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC)
In partnership with the Oshkosh Chamber, FVTC will provide for area high school students tours of its Wood Manufacturing, Electro-Mechanical, and Welding and Metal Fabrication facilities, as well as of a TBA industry partner’s operations.

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC)
A "This Girl Can" welding event – delivered in partnership with Samuel Pressure Vessel Group and Marinette School District – will be offered to girls currently in grades 7 & 8 at Marinette Middle School, allowing the girls and their parents to tour and have dinner at Samuel and visit with several women in manufacturing careers. 

OCTOBER 4

Chippewa Valley Technical college (CVTC)
In this hands-on manufacturing career exploration event for high school juniors and seniors, attendees will explore CVTC’s state-of-the-art manufacturing labs, tour a local manufacturer to see classroom skills applied in a real-world setting, and receive lunch and a CVTC gift! CVTC is also hosting a Skills USA Welding competition on its campus the day of this event. Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC)
In partnership with Miller Electric, FVTC will provide Manufacturing Lab tours on its Appleton campus for high school students, as well as a tour of Miller Electric.

Lakeshore Technical College (LTC)
Manufacturing Rocks Career Day – day-long, hands-on career exploration for middle and high school students highlighting precision machining, robotics & automation, maintenance, mechanical design, and welding.

Lakeshore Technical College (LTC)
Made Here Manufacturing Tour, hosted by the Chamber of Manitowoc County, for local community leaders to tour up to seven local manufacturing companies and learn about company and career options.

Madison College 
Madison College Cabinetmaking & Millwork programs will host an open house in our lab, E-1732, with tours and machine demonstrations. Concurrently we will have the Festool Road Show Truck parked at Straubel Street Parking Lot. No matter what kind of craftsman you are this is your opportunity to experience Festool's game-changing tools for yourself!

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC)
Middle School girls have been invited to participate in a highly successful, annual, hands-on “Women at Work” event, which includes activities in welding, machining, masonry and Prototype and Design.

Southwest Wisconsin Technical College (SWTC)
We will be participating in a Manufacturing Month celebration being held at the Rockwell Automation plant in Richland Center.

OCTOBER 5

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC)
A continuation of the October 3 "This Girl Can" event, girls currently in grades 7 & 8 at Marinette Middle School and their parents will participate in a welding activity at the NWTC welding lab, which includes a Math in Welding exercise.

OCTOBER 8

Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC)
WCTC will host a Career Expo that promotes manufacturing careers with middle school students.

OCTOBER 8 - 10

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), Gateway Technical College, Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC), Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC)
MATC, Gateway and WCTC – including current students and employer partners – will be exhibitors at the Wisconsin Manufacturing & Technology Show (WMTS) at State Fair Park in West Allis, promoting manufacturing careers and programs to employers and prospective students. Current MATC students will compete in welding skills contests each day, and current Milwaukee area high school students will attend on “Student Day” October 10. NWTC machining students will attend the event on October 10.

OCTOBER 10

Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC)
A “Heavy Metal Tour” will visit Fives Giddings & Lewis and RB Royal in Fond du Lac and promote networking and learning about careers in manufacturing. Focused on middle and high school students and their parents, this tour is also open to the community.

OCTOBER 11

Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC)
A Schools2Skills tour will provide industry and WCTC insights for high school students.

Lakeshore Technical College (LTC)
CareerQuest: STEM for high school students will be filled with hands-on activities in STEM career areas, including engineering, nuclear technology/radiation safety, and wind energy.

OCTOBER 15

Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC)
A “Discover Manufacturing” event will welcome Amery and Somerset Middle School students to explore manufacturing-related programs at WITC-New Richmond.

OCTOBER 16

Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC)
An FVTC “Manufacturing Job Fair” in Appleton will welcome 70 Manufacturing employers to campus to recruit students.

Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC)
A “Heavy Metal Tour” will visit Mid-States Aluminum and Wells Vehicle Electronics in Fond du Lac and promote networking and learning about careers in manufacturing. Focused on middle and high school students and their parents, this tour is also open to the community.

Northcentral Technical College (NTC)
WMC Foundation and M3 Insurance will host multiple stops around the State of Wisconsin during October to celebrate Manufacturing Month. Each stop will highlight Wisconsin’s need for skilled workers, the economic impact of manufacturing in Wisconsin and a variety of other topics.  The event will include a welcome from NTC, panel of manufacturers, NTC + local chamber reps and a tour.

OCTOBER 17

Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC)
Area manufacturers will showcase their companies and products to Waukesha County High School students at a MADE event.

OCTOBER 18

Madison College
The 2nd annual School of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology (ASET) Career Extravaganza will welcome more than 100 students from area high schools. In partnership with industry partners, the college will deliver hands-on activities in Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, Machine Tool, and other program areas.

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC)
A “Heavy Metal Tour” will bring students from south suburban high schools to campus for a tour of MATC’s manufacturing labs, participation in hands-on activities and networking with employers and faculty.

OCTOBER 22

Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC)
FVTC will provide a “Hands-On High-Tech” experience in Wood Manufacturing for area high school students.

Gateway Technical College
The college will invite current and prospective students, manufacturing employer partners, dignitaries and the community to a ribbon-cutting for the iMET center expansion in Sturtevant.

Mid-State Technical College
Program Showcase 10th grade students come to campus of a day of fun, interactive lab experiences in manufacturing.

Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC)
A Schools2Skills tour will provide industry and WCTC insights for high school students.

Lakeshore Technical College (LTC)
LTC and the American Welding Society - Lakeshore Section are teaming up to offer SPARKS Welding Career Night, allowing high school students and adults interested in learning more about a career in welding to meet welding professionals, LTC students & instructors, and experience different welding processes in a hands-on environment.

OCTOBER 23

Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC)
MPTC actively participates in the 2-day “Manufacturing Career Expo,” sponsored by the Menomonee Falls Chamber of Commerce and held at Washington County Fair Park, which brings together local manufacturers, middle and high school students, and educators and parents to raise awareness of local manufacturing industry career opportunities.

Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC)
A “Heavy Metal Tour” will visit Mercury Marine and BCI Burke Company in Fond du Lac and promote networking and learning about careers in manufacturing. Focused on middle and high school students and their parents, this tour is also open to the community.

Western Technical College
Students will tour Western and learn about STEM projects, tour a local manufacturing partner’s facility, receive a Torrance Casting demo, have a photo opportunity with event sponsors and attend a career fair. Manufacturing industry partners will attend a networking event on campus the same day, hearing from Chad Kopitzke of Nextgen Advantage and Jeff Kroes of The Upper Mississippi Manufacturing Alliance, touring a student project showcase and the Integrated Technology Center, and participating in a Manufacturing Career Fair.

OCTOBER 25

Madison College
During an “Experience Madison College” event, prospective students of all ages – as well as parents, mentors and influencers – will learn about School of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology programs, meet instructors, participate in hands-on activities and take a campus tour focused on their specific interests.

OCTOBER 29

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC)
The Excellence in Manufacturing/K-12 Partnerships Awards from the NEW Manufacturing Alliance – presented on the eve of the Manufacturing First Expo & Conference at the at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay – recognize great industry/education partnership and raise funds for the Alliance, which made available $40,000 in college scholarships in 2018-2019.

Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC)
A Schools2Skills tour will provide industry and WCTC insights for high school students.

OCTOBER 30

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC)
The Manufacturing First Expo & Conference at the KI Convention Center will feature 180+ exhibitors, 12 breakout sessions covering talent recruitment/retention, technology, leadership training, transformational productivity and exporting.  More than 500 high school students are expected to attend in the morning, and college students in the afternoon.

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC)
“Find Your Inspiration,” developed by the Greater Green Bay Chamber Partners in Education in response to employers’ need for talent, provides career exploration for nearly 4,000 8th grade students from the Green Bay region, regardless of their post-high school plans.

NOVEMBER 14

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC)
“Internship Draft Day” at Lambeau Field brings college students from across Wisconsin and Michigan to interview for internships, co-ops, apprenticeships and part-time jobs.  Students get a jersey and the chance to hear their name announced by Packers President Mark Murphy.
