MADISON – On behalf of the Wisconsin Technical College System Board and our 16 local colleges, I want to express our appreciation to the Assembly for reconsidering AB 2 as amended, which proposed eliminating the technical college operating levy. Local buy-in and support is essential to the success of Wisconsin’s technical colleges, and it warrants further discussion from our state’s policy leaders.
I also want to thank the employers, local chambers of commerce, public safety and other community organization leaders who shared their experiences of engagement with their local technical college. The Wisconsin Technical College System values your partnership and commitment – it is key to our remarkable student and service outcomes.
We look forward to continuing discussions with the Legislature and our local partners to strengthen technical colleges’ operations and impact. Wisconsin needs and deserves flexible, responsive, high-quality technical colleges that sustain our current and future talent pipeline and support local communities’ economic success.
