In this program, studies in dairy science are combined with veterinary courses to provide a foundation for employment opportunities. The operating dairy farm located at the Agriculture Center of Excellence offers students a rich learning experience blending classroom instruction with hands-on opportunities working with the dairy cattle, administering medication, and assisting in procedures. This program exposes students to sound environmental practices and professional literature in various areas of agriculture. Students will complete an internship experience during the program. Jobs in this field are physically demanding and require the strength to lift and carry 50 pounds. Occupations might include agriculture technician, farm worker, animal maternity tending, caring for sick animals, administering medication, or veterinary assistant. Upon completion of the program and work experience, students will be able to take the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) exam to work in an animal research facility
