Visits highlight tech college, K-12 partnershipsMADISON – Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) leaders are joining with State Superintendent Tony Evers to highlight several of the hundreds of innovative partnerships that allow Wisconsin high school students to explore career opportunities and earn technical college credits. The visits are part of Wisconsin’s recognition of Career and Technical Education Month. Mark Tyler, president of the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Board, visited Baldwin-Woodville and Hudson high schools in northwest Wisconsin on Monday with Superintendent Evers. The schools are considered models for leveraging technical college expertise and employer connections to deliver cutting edge skills instruction at the high school level. "I’m really proud of these partnerships," said Tyler, who is also president of OEM Fabricators, a metal fabrication and machining company with operations in Woodville and Neillsville. "Without this type of collaboration, I wouldn’t find the skilled team members I need, and the schools likely wouldn’t be able to provide these types of facilities for their students." In addition to actively supporting school-based facilities, Tyler has also been instrumental in developing "Gold Collar Careers," a campaign to foster interest in high-skill, high-wage manufacturing careers in the region. On Thursday, WTCS President Morna Foy will join Evers for visits to Oak Creek and Racine Park high schools in southeast Wisconsin. ### About the System: |
