Economic Recovery Efforts 2009-10

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) is an unprecedented effort to jumpstart our economy, create or save millions of jobs, and put a down payment on addressing long-neglected challenges so our country can thrive in the 21st century.

Wisconsin’s technical colleges have applied for or are partners on a number of competitive grants under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. These competitive grant opportunities were designed to support states’ efforts to meet the training needs of working adults and dislocated workers while addressing labor market demands in key industries like manufacturing, energy, and health care. In October 2009, the U.S. Department of Education announced that three Wisconsin technical colleges will be awarded more than $1.3 million over the next two years under the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE).  Read more about the grant awards.  (PDF) Acrobat Icon
