Economic Development

The Wisconsin Technical College System is an important component in the State’s effort to ensure the availability of a well-trained and knowledgeable workforce. As part of our core mission, all 16 technical colleges provide customized training and other economic development-related services to businesses, local governments, and other organizations. These may include:

• Customized training tailored to the specific needs of employers, including instruction in:
  • specific occupational skills such as lean manufacturing, robotics, customer service, or quality improvement;
  • team building, conflict resolution and interpersonal communications skills;
  • management and leadership skill; or
  • English as a Second Language.
     
• One-on-one technical assistance to improve specific production or work organization and processes.
• Facilitation of strategic planning efforts.
• Incubator space and services for new businesses.
   
• Participation in manufacturing modernization efforts such as:
  • Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership (WMEP) and
  • Northwest Wisconsin Manufacturing Outreach Center (NWMOC)
