Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Reggie Newson leads the state agency charged with building and strengthening Wisconsin's workforce.  The Department has an annual budget of over $450 million, over 1,600 employees and six divisions: Employment and Training, Administrative Services, Equal Rights, Unemployment Insurance, Worker's Compensation and Vocational Rehabilitation.  He served as Deputy Secretary at DWD from August 2011 until Governor Walker appointed him Secretary on October 24, 2011.  He also served as Executive Assistant at the Department of Transportation since January 2011.

Secretary Newson has an MBA with an emphasis in corporate communications from Concordia University of Wisconsin, a master's degree in political science and certificates in project management, management and six-sigma from UW-Milwaukee.  He also has an associate's degree in commercial real estate from Marquette University and a certified six-sigma black belt.

He is an alumnus of Future Milwaukee and a member of the Milwaukee Forum and the Downtown Milwaukee Rotary.  He serves on the Board of Directors for the Milwaukee Urban League, the boards of the Menomonee Valley Partners and 30th Street Industrial Corridor, and is a member of the Bayshore Towne Center Community Advisory Board.
